The contact person then has the prepared bag ready to go when the person leaves the situation quickly. In Search of people to sew the “Ready, Set, Go” Bags for Domestic Violence survivors.  

Quilters and Sewists, here is an opportunity to bust your stash of fat quarters! 

Our drawstring backpack bags are usually made with two fat quarters to create a bag that is approximately 16 1/2" x 21" bag with buttons or grommets, and with shoestrings, cord or rope as straps. There are many great resources online (especially YouTube) for free patterns. Anna's does not require that the bags be this specific size, but we will accept any type of cloth bags that will fit the contents. In general, the bags need to be big enough to hold a set of toiletries (such as shampoo and conditioner, comb, brush, toothbrush, etc.), plus a small Bible and a prayer scarf/shawl.

In Search of Knitters and Crocheters. 

We are seeking wonderful individuals to create simple scarves and prayer shawls to add to Ready, Set, Go Bags for Domestic Violence survivors. 

Oue scarves are 5 inches wide by 5 feet long, (though 4 feet long is acceptable). Each stitch on the scarf or prayer shawl is a prayer for the recipient. So remember that while your fingers are at work, you’re sending positive vibes, happiness, and joy to the person you’re creating it for; it truly makes a difference because they feel it. They hold onto it tightly. They know that something so special was made just for them to get through something so challenging in their life.

Whether you crochet or knit hats and scarves for women, children, men, or prayer shawls, it’s completely freeform. You are welcome to use any pattern and yarn of your choosing. We do ask that if you choose to use some of the extra special yarns from your collection, that you include a small tag with fiber content and care instructions.

It would be fine if they are 4 feet long. Each stitch on the prayer shawl is a prayer for the receiver and is meant to be wrapped around them as comfort.

 We can provide yarn if needed just message us.
